Canada
Toronto's BMO Field will host the opening night of a tournament Canada is helping to stage, and the home crowd wants something the senior side has never delivered: a single point at this level. The 2022 group stage ended in three defeats and nothing on the board, but this is a faster, more confident generation. Alphonso Davies patrols the left from his Bayern Munich base, Stephen Eustáquio sets the rhythm in midfield, and Jonathan David offers the kind of finishing few sides can match. Group B, alongside Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Qatar, is genuinely open. With matches also in Vancouver and the swagger of co-hosts, the demand is plain. Canada have never reached a knockout round. Doing so now, on their own soil, would rewrite the story of a team only recently arrived on the big stage.
